I started out riding an 883 Sportster, it was my first motorcycle, so I had nothing to compare it to. My girlfriend and I rode it everywhere, after I installed a back rest and whatever the most comfortable passenger seat was at the time (1994). I was about 20 years younger and 20 lbs lighter and she was about 120 lbs. We had a blast and distance was never an issue.

Get the sissybar. I have been on Sportsters for over 20 years and have ridden with many on the back.

Sissy bar is the way to go. I won't ride 2 up without the sissy bar.

Funny this should come up, just finished watching an episode of that TV series 'Training Day' one line in it was ' what's the difference between a vacuum cleaner and a Harley? Answer, you can fit two dirt bags on a Harley, guess we know what some people think of us lol.

Thanks to everyone for their advice “except for the bum who called my old lady a Bitch”” I’m still at a stalemate but everyone gave me more to think about.
