I have a 2013 xl 1200 c and would like to put another person on the back to ride with me and I would really like anyones opinion.
I dont want to spend the money to get a different seat and sissy bar and find out I wasted my money.
Some have told me I will be fine and some have told me Im wasting my money and to just buy a new bike. Unfortunately a new bike is not in my future.
Thanks in advance
Bear
I wouldn't put any one on the back of a bike without a sissy bar/backrest. And if the seat isn't comfortable for the passenger the whole two up riding ain't gonna happen.
A lot depends on the combined weight of the rider and passenger.
I used to have a 2004 sportster roadster with the 1200 hundred. Once in a while my wife would get on the back. The bike rode and handled fine but my wife wife did not like it. The seat area is too small on the stock seat.
Not knocking Sportsters but I have listened to more complaining from 2up's on them then from any other model. I had a few Sportsers years ago and agree.
I don't understand your problem.
Put the bitch on the back and go,,
If you have a solo seat tell her to bring a pillow.
If she brings too big a pillow then maybe you don't want her on there.
Is riding 2 up on a sporty comfortable? No,, but that hasn't stopped people from doing just that since Harley made sporty's,,
You can 2-up on it fine, but like several people have mentioned it comes down to how comfortable your passenger is. I've known people that did about 400 miles on a 1200c, the stock seat was very uncomfortable for her. But they didn't stop often.
Take breaks before you need them, that can help a lot. Going without a sissy bar is fine for going a couple miles but if you're going to be on it more than 10 minutes I highly suggest one. It will make it a lot more enjoyable for your passenger and you if you're not worried about her falling off the back.
Somewhere, can't remember where, I have seen a seat, not very big but obviously offered some degree of comfort that had suction cups that stick to the fender. Apparently can be easily removed. I have no idea where to tell you to look other than an internet search. Maybe try posting in the Sportster section of the forum.
