Default Discount questions

Hey everybody, I have a question on possible discounts on new Harley’s. Recently I signed up to take the new rider course at my local dealership. When talking to the sales rep, I was told that the course may offer certain Harley Davidson discount eligibility after completion of the course. I am also active duty military and finally living somewhere warm enough to cruise year round. I’m looking for any advice as to exactly what these discounts or incentives are, because honestly I was considering buying an Indian scout, but for the right price I would gladly take home an HD

I don't know if anything of this type is coming thru the MOCO or if it's a dealer thing. Maybe if your riding class is at a HD dealership, they'll give you some type of incentive if you buy a bike from them. No harm in trying to negotiate, worse case is they say no.

Yes, the course is a Harley course at my local Harley dealership. Spoke briefly with sales and they spoke of “discounts” but said I would need to talk more after the course. Just looking for what insight I can get before then so I know what to expect.

I think you can buy the bike you learn on at a discount. That's what they told my girlfriend. It sounds like a good idea, that way you are comfortable until you get some miles under your belt.

Most likely depends on the dealership. One of the dealers I frequent has the new riders course and they discount any new (not sure about used) bike purchase by the amount of the course.

Perhaps there are discounts for active duty? If so, they may or may not be willing to combine them

Here's a link to what is on the HD website It looks like if you plan to finance they offer incentives

The basic rider course I took was sponsored by an H-D dealership, although it was held at a Honda facility (regional office; and they have a paved/lined lot for the courses) - and we rode Honda motorcycles. I have no idea what sort of relationship the H-D dealer has with the Honda place, and I never asked. The instructors were certified MSF riders.

We were certainly not offered any discounts for motorcycles, but the dealership did offer 10% off on clothing, parts, and accessories - as long as they had it in stock. (In-stock was the kicker, 'cause I wanted to spend money on maintenance manuals.... we did end up buying leather jackets, though; 10% amounts to a decent deal on leather!)

Hope this helps,
John

I run into the salesman that sold me both of my bikes all the time. He's told my wife several times that if she takes the course and decides to buy a bike that he would get her a gift card for the amount she paid for the course. It's just a sales pitch.
