Be Honest, Tuff Guy!!
uhm well...i do feel a little tough when i get on my harley....its just because i know people look at me, and think like, dont f#ck with that guy, hes got a harley. and although i may not be as tough as people see me when im on my harley, its nice that i have that image once in a while. like when i have the girl on back...people may be checking her out, but theyre not gonna whistle or hollar ather because, "ill beat there a$$!!!!" so in a way its good. So, next time, tell her to bring her husband over...haha, no, dont do that, but i bet hes too scared to get involved because he prolly thinks that because you have a harley, you could beat his @ss!!!
A few thoughts:
Maybe 'tough guy' isn't the right term? But I think folks on here would be lying if they said that they didn't 'feel something' different each and every time they went to straddle that Milwaukee Iron. I mean, come on. I know every time I get on my bike,a whole host of feelings run through; ranging from pride, freedom, accomplishment, maybe even a smidgen of bad *** every now and again. I think, to some degree or another, we all feel it.
Knowingly rolling the throttle in front of a neighbors house that you know would be annoyed by it is - in my opinion - somewhat juvenile. I would subscribe to the 'do what you gotta' do' to get the bike down the road in your neighborhood. Nothing more. Nothing less. Be as mindful and respectful of your neighbors as possible. Does this mean changing out your pipes? Of course not. But it doesn't mean one should rap the pipes down the lane either.
Your neighbor was quite brazen in what she told you. You exercised some serious restraint in not replying in a fashion worthy of the situation.

The last time I thought if I were tough or not was in the 5th grade.
If someone thinks they're a tough guy because they ridea Harley, well.....they have some issues. I don't think it's a good idea to antagonize your neighbor withrapping the throttle. Just my 2 cents......

I don't feel like a Bad A s when I'm on my bike but I sure like the feeling I get when others look at me with envy. I also have had people hit me with the loud pipe, and just anti motercycle thing and I just smile and ask You don't ride, do you? then just walk away.
I bet you she will be down at city hall the next time a load pipe ordinance comes up for debate. Think about that the next time you rev your bike while riding past her house.
Well,
Most of my neighbors don't even know I have a bike unless they have seen it when it goes out of the garage onto the street.....I usually idle down the block to let it warm up good and around the corner until I get on the "commercial" street out of the neighborhood. I usually cruise into the drive coming back and shut it off as soon as I get stopped (to open the garage door).....no I don't rev it up before shutting it down........
it's just respect.....and it comes in all forms bikes or whatever.....I'm just fine with a low profile...life's to short to be a target all of the time......as they have said before, learn to distinguish between what's worth wasting your time on and pick your battles on your own terms........I'm constantly amazed at the rudeness of most people.......
for example, the same people that will walk back half-way down a grocery store aisle to move their cart to the side for you will blatantly sit in front of you on the highway in their car and act like they own the whole road and their space and time is more important than anything else in the world, but then you know what I'm talking about anyway............
I know a guy that recently bought a new bike, had some pipes and tuning done and called me over to look at it......looks nice.......then he reached up and fired it up right there and racked the pipes with downturns that blew gravel and sand all over the parked cars next to it with people sitting at tables not ten or twelve feet away......idiot......no way I would have done that and if I would have been parked there I would have been the one pi$$ed........it's like heads are for nothing more than storing a hat.........go figure............ok, it's Monday morning and I have been putting up with Cr@p all weekend......done.......

Yesterday one of my neighbors got mad because of my loud pipes, I drove in my driveway and she walks up to me and said " All you bikers think your so tuff" and think you do not have to abide the laws of the land, she walks off and I stand there stund but did not say a word. I admit I rev my bike when I pass here house because I know it bothers her. Shes a real be-atch
So be honest, do you think your a tuff guy because you drive a bike/Harley? I must admit when I stradel my bike I do get an instant feeling of power! However, I treat people the same as I want to be treated or the same as they treat me. Give me crap I'll give it right back.
So my answer to my question is Yes I feel tuff but do not act like a fool or treat people with disrespect.
