Did the crossing a few years ago, take some of your older tiedowns. They asked to park in gear, well not my pattern and wasn't expecting the starting lurch. There are cabins ($$$) if you want to nap, the sandwich bar fair to middlin', If your taking the morning crossing get a sub sandwich in town or somewhere the night before, some drinks ,including water, take all you need in a backpack to topside. The 4 hour crossing is way too long. When we rode it it was coal powered and the exhaust was sooty, I think its nat. gas now. Door County has some nice resort towns and is quite pricey, make sure you have you wallet. We stayed in Fish Creek and rode from there. A good old fashion grill/ice cream stand in Ephraim is Wilson's Restaurant, lot's of upscale touristy restaurants and inns. On your home stop in Green Bay , Lambeau Field and National Train Museum. Have fun.
It's a 4 hour crossing but you're only can't see land for about an hour. It's still coal fired but they no longer dump the ashes into the lake. They retro fit a conveyor to hold the ashes until the trip is over.
I have some tie downs. We are taking the morning crossing. It seems like an interesting and unusual part of the trip. We leave Sunday morning and ride the Badger on Monday.
Oh yeah... I did pay the extra for the small private room with bathroom. I can be prone to motion sickness and if that happens, I dont want to be standing in line for the public toilets.

I've done it. Like they said take some tie downs. It's a slow boat! We had fun talking to other passengers and the most interesting was a group of young Amish crossing to go to a wedding. It was a interesting conversation between me and a 20ish young man. I don't know who was more interested in the other. The most impressive part was when we docked in luddington and they spun the boat around in a small space.

we took the badger a few years ago and it was very windy that day....to windy to sit on deck. the badger was rock solid and didn't rock and roll, not even a little bit. the rooms i saw were very small, i wouldn't want to be in one with the door closed.
