I am beyond surprised at the percent of y'all who always wear gloves. Good on ya. Me, too. Never leave the driveway without them. Ever.

For cold weather I have a pair of Klim full GoreTex lined, Thinsulate insulated gloves, with full leather palms.
For moderate weather I have a pair of FirstGear lightweight textile gloves with a full leather palm.
For hot weather I have a pair of full mesh-backed gloves, all leather palm, and double layer leather over the scaphoid bones.

Never leave home without them.

I gotta check that out.
I've had decent pair of Castle Fingerless for about 5yrs now and they're getting wore out,, but I haven't been able to find a "off the shelf" fingerless glove that matches or even comes close to those,, even current Castle gloves are just crap.
I've always had a hard time with glove fit,, my hands are like clubs with stubby appendages.
By the time I find a 3X to fit the hand and knuckles,, the fingers are all an 1 1/2" too long!!

Nothing quite like having gravel and road debris picked out of what's left of your palms. Do it once, and I guarantee you won't want a replay. Ever. Yeah, I wear gloves every time I get on a bike.

Oh Man!
I went down kinda light one time and my knee caught most of it. No chap's, it was too hot that day.
It wasn't bad enough to wreck the bike, nor bad enough for a starving student to go the the doctor.
But sitting in the shower with soap and a fingernail brush scrubbing and rinsing out the gravel with nothing but whiskey as a pain killer is a life lesson I wouldn't wish on others.
(roommate said I was rather vocal)
It healed with no other scars then to my pride and memory.

I wear full-fingered gloves...along with my shorts, T-shirt, tennis shoes, SPF 50 sun block, and full-faced helmet.

When I was a kid we used to build ramps to jump our Schwinns. I went over the handlebars once and landed in glass. Having my mom pulling chunks of glass out of my hands with tweezers for ten minutes freaked me out. Always wear gloves now, even on bicycles.

And another vote for deerskin. I have a pair I've been wearing for eight years. They're light grey instead of black now, but still in near perfect shape.

I never ride without gloves; just like I never drive without a seatbelt.

Always gloves.

The Lee Parks deerskin gloves are thin enough that you almost don't know you are wearing them, and strong enough that they will keep the skin on your hands in case of an unscheduled dismount.
