Default 2003 Road King Classic

Hi. Did HD put a catalytic converter in these? I’ve got conflicting answers from dealers. I want to put new slip ons and am trying to determine if I need/should get true duals. If the cat is out, maybe not needed. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the first year for cats was '06, and that was for touring bikes that had one in the right side only.

Thank you. I have a road king and am trying to figure out if I can just new slip ons or need true duals as well. The cat obviously plays a big part in that decision. Thanks for your help.

I have a stage 1 kit on my 03.(screaming eagle slip on’s) I just installed the Fullsac True Dual kit and the dealer installed tune doesn’t work well with the FTD kit. If you go either route,(slip on/TD) expect to add a dealer tune or Cobra Fi2000r to your bike..

Use Ronnie's Part Finder when you need to know about parts.
Here is the exhaust for a 2003 FLHRCI.

No sir, definitely not loud. BUT the True Dual kit “enhanced” the volume just a bit, at idle. I can’t give a complete sound review yet, as the bike isn’t running smoothly since the FTD install (last week). I’m ordering the Cobra tuner on the 1st, and won’t ride the bike again, until I’ve installed it. Maybe then I’ll be able to notice if the slip on’s are a bit louder at cruising speeds. I was only able to ride the bike for less than a mile after true dual install. Bike just coughed and sputtered/ backfired with the dealer installed stage 1 tune.
