I wear both or none depending on the conditions. NC is a mandatory state, KY isn't.
Wear the half most of the time here in NC, but always take the modular on trips in case I'm in for some wet riding. Much easier to deal with the mist and such with a FF
Used to have 1/2 helmets, but always also had a FF modular. Had an accident a few years ago while wearing the FF modular (Shoei Multitech). If I was wearing the 1/2 helmet that day, my jaw would have been destroyed. Only worn FF modulars since. Currently using a Schuberth C3. Took a bit to break in, and they are very expensive, but am now spoiled by it. Quiet (for a modular) and very luxury feeling.
FF always. I spent 12 years of my nursing career working ER and saw enough facial injuries that could have been prevented with a FF helmet to keep me wearing one.
I wear a Shoei RJ Platinum 3/4 most of the time. When I go out on a multi day ride I take along my Neotec in case it rains. My modular also is worn when the temps get below 60.
This is not 'I'm telling anyone what to do' reply, you asked, I'm answering.. After my hit last year (and I was wearing a Snell FF), I'll never be on a bike without another one. If I had my open helmet, I would of had an issue..

Same thing happened to me. I always wore a beanie helmet and had a 3/4 for cold weather riding. I was wearing my 3/4 helmet when I wrecked. Yellow road paint was on the whole side of my helmet. Now I wear a full face.
I have found that in hot weather, a full face with no windshield actually keeps me cooler as long as Im moving. If Im doing local stop and go, then Ill use a 3/4.
Full face helmet 100% of the time for me. Too much risk not wearing one and I've been hit by large bugs and pebbles enough times to not wear anything else. Yes it can be hot, but it doesn't really impact your vision as has been proven in independent testing. I wear ear plugs as well and that reduces my ability to hear someone talking to me while wearing my helmet but I have not noticed that it reduces my ability to hear traffic. I wear No-Noise brand motorcycle specific ear plugs and they mainly reduce the tones associated with wind noise. Whatever you chose just be safe and for me that means full face and ATGATT. https://www.michiganautolaw.com/blog...ision-hearing/
