that omega jack is the same jack that came on my j&s. i just had to rebuild it after 10 years of use. all it needed was an o-ring on the lift plunger.

but, i am bookmarking this info for future reference in case i ever need it. thanks. the one from harbor freight that i originally bought didn't work, it was just a tad too tall and wouldn't let the jack lower enough to fit under the frame, hence the need to rebuild the original.

That's a good point. I thought about trying to rebuild the Omega jack. But I didn't know which seal was the problem and if I was going to rebuild it, I'd redo all the seals (that's just how I'm wired). The rebuild kit was about $20, plus whatever shipping would be. The Husky jack was about $35 and in stock at Home Depot. For me, a no brainer as I didn't get messy at all! But had the price difference been a bit more I would have done the rebuild. It just "feels" like the right thing vs. disposing and replacing...

i get it. in my case, the only problem i found on disassembly was a blown o-ring on the handle plunger. o-ring kit from harbor freight for less than $5 took care of that. luckily i didn't have to get into removal of the jack body canister and all. otherwise, i would have looked for a different solution. unfortunately, in my case, that would involve either mail order or a few miles of travel. i live in bfe (we got a walmart and a dollar general)

Interesting. As I took apart the old jack to make a drilling template I did take off the handle. And inside was fluid. So it was probably leaking in the same place yours was. And I do have those HF O-ring kits. Probably could have saved myself $35! LOL
