Default Pitbull Jack Upgrade

Has anyone replaced their old style bottle jack on their Pitbull Motorcycle Lift with this new style they are offering? Mine is leaking so I thought this may be worth upgrading to.

If/when mine starts leaking I would probably go for it. It does seem to have some improvements. Kind of pricey but should improve resale if you point out the benefits. If you bite the bullet please post a review and thanks for posting this.

Anyone rebuild a bottle jack? Pain in the ***? Found a rebuild kit online for $25. Not sure its worth the effort. FWIW the jack on my lift is about 12 years old. Not a bad run!

A little over a year, they said the jack's gasket was defective and it could not build pressure.

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I’d just add to this old one. I have the older style Pitbull hydraulic jack and recently the bottle jack started leaking. Did some research, though about rebuilding it but for the money it was about the same to get a new bottle jack. The original bottle was from Omega and was a 6 ton bottle jack. It has a nice flange on the base providing ample meta for PB to drill hole thru to mount the bottle to the jack itself.

From what I’ve read, that bottle is crap and leaks a lot. PB has replaced them at no charge in the past, but because it’s an earlier design, they no longer have those bottles in stock. I called and chatted with them and they were nice but said because of all the economic supply chain issues lately (COVID, shipping delays, trade wars, etc) the min order for these bottle jacks is like $70k. That’s a lot of cash to lay out for Jack’s they no longer use. I get it. So they didn’t have one to send me. So my choices were (again) rebuild or find an alternative.

Long story short, I found one on my second try. The Husky 6 ton bottle from Home Depot is damn near identical. Shoot, for all I know, they com from the same factory in China.

But it has a nice flange that I could drill holes in the same places. And it mounted into the same spot. Glad to report, it works well!

Hope this helps someone repair their old PB jack and keep it going. I love the jack and was glad to get it fixed for about $35.
