Hey guys. I'm trying to whack these heated grips on my Fatboy and also change out the control cables. Well I gotta take off the Air Cleaner and it says in the manual I gotta replace the gasket and O rings with new ones.
Problem is that I don't have a HD dealer on the island and for some damn reason they don't have them in stock (my nearest dealer) to send me. (God only knows why)..... Anyhow, I really want to do the work now and will be needing the bike in about a week. Question....... Is it that big of a deal if I reuse the gasket and O rings again, or is that a big no no.
If necessary I'll have to get them flown in from the mainland, but would rather not.
Yeah, took it off and all, Gaskets and rings seem to be in OK shape, ....not sure about the filter though, a beach flowed out. Couldn't believe the amount of sand in there.
O-rings are fairly resiliant. I'm still using the factory o-rings on alll my drain plugs, serviced regularly since June 2005, 38,000 miles. Funny thing is, I bought new ones for the first service and they're still hanging on the wall in the garage.
