Ran into this with my 2003 Night Train. Someone stole the dash overlay for the ignition switch. Went to the parts counter, they wanted proof I owned a 100th anniversary bike. Gave them my registration which the VIN verified. Get a call a week later they needed the old one in exchange for the new one. I asked which part of it was stolen don't you understand. Said I needed a police report confirming the theft. Gave up until I found one on ebay about a month later.
This thread reminds me of back in the day ... Vehicles had the engine size on the front fender ... 289, 390, 350,396 etc ... My Biscayne is an L-72 ( 427/425 ) and I had a pair of 307 badges on the fender ... Kind of the reverse of what the Op is trying to do ( show his scooter is a CVO ? )
Possibly, but maybe not. He may just like the way it looks. I had not idea that bike was a CVO and I doubt I'm the only one.
but they won't sell them to you unless you have a vin.
@heyman, apparently, not many people agree with you on this one, that emblem has a high demand.
Produce an item, price it high then tell people that not everyone can have one and the world will beat down your door to get at it. "There's a sucker born every minute."

except that it isn't priced high at all. as far as emblems go, they are on the cheap side. $50 per is not that bad. the moco has nothing to do with the price on eBay being set...
I've got a question. Even though the emblem is the bar and shield but doesn't have Harley Davidson on it anywhere is it a trademarked HD product? If so Harley has all the right to protect it. And if these were only used on special models I think it is only right that HD make sure they wind up on the proper bikes. How many people have spent big money for a Hemi Cuda only to find out they have an original 318 car with a doctored VIN.

The $50 ones are obviously not Genuine Harley parts and certainly you'd want to keep your Harley all Harley wouldn't you??? Besides, if you put non factory emblems on your tank it may void your waranty.
there is a guy on the addicted to baggers and horsepower facebook page that is making them, He even does some that are slightly larger then stock ones. They are real nice, solid aluminum and sell for $100ish a set.
Personally I really like those badges, simple and understated, not everything has to have gold and tribal flames on it.
