I've got a question. Even though the emblem is the bar and shield but doesn't have Harley Davidson on it anywhere is it a trademarked HD product? If so Harley has all the right to protect it. And if these were only used on special models I think it is only right that HD make sure they wind up on the proper bikes. How many people have spent big money for a Hemi Cuda only to find out they have an original 318 car with a doctored VIN.

You'd better believe it. H-D is as aggressive as they come when it comes to protecting their trademark and intellectual property, just like Coca-Cola or Apple. Good luck if they bust you selling counterfeit merchandise with their logo on it, they'll run you into the ground. On VIN-restricted items there is one order allowed in a 12 month period for that particular part, and if you order one a return label is generated and the original must be returned. If a dealer does not return a restricted order part they can be fined $5,000 by HD as compensation for potential damages.
... Kind of the reverse of what the Op is trying to do ( show his scooter is a CVO ? )

.. would know enuff to also know that the bike attached to it .... was just fakin' it
