hd4evr, you and I are the same age, 68. I used to have a '10 roadglide custom. Began to think it was too much for me to handle, so in 2014 I sold it and picked up a new switchback based on the smaller is better for an old man principle. I was wrong and lived with that decision grudgingly for three years, sold it and went back to a roadglide special. I'm a happy rider once again! I don't do errands or in town jaunts on the bike, but do travel on it for days and sometimes weeks at a time. Doing that on a dyna is a PITA. Dynas are fine little bar hoppers, but I don't go to the bar.
Ride what you like, but make sure you ride that dyna a little before committing to it. Make sure you like it and can be happy with it. I don't believe many can leave a long time relationship with a touring platform happily.

You're right! That's why I posted this above:
"Thanks everyone for all the answers and advice. I decided to keep my Street Glide. I have it the way I want it really, and I know I'd miss the fairing, comfort, storage, and tunes. Also, just the fact that I know my bike is worth more than the FXDC, and the eagerness of the dealer to get me to trade, makes me realize that I should hang on to my bike."
I realized I'd miss my Street Glide. Went out to the garage and took a good long look at my bike. There's a whole lot of "myself" wrapped up in it, and I'm keeping it.
Think about taking a police riding course for ciilians. It's not a weight thing it's all about technique. I'm 77 and ride a 2017 CVO bagger. Now that you're 65, retire and get to a class and hit the road. JMO
One example of a business that instructs on how to control a bike at slow speeds- owner/instructor is a former MC Police officer.
They offer classes in certain parts of the country, sell DVD and digital videos, and there is a lot of free information as well. I purchased the DVD Ride Like a Pro, very informative.
