My only knowledge of the subject comes from watching HuntingHarley's channel on youtube. But as far as the OP's question, it doesn't really matter what a chopper is or isn't or is supposed to be. As far as HD the company, they will build and market anything that will sell. An HD chopper look-alike clone is not going to appeal to a large enough audience to make a profit. Sure they could create a 'Captain America Rides Again' bike, call it an FXDRCK Retro Super Duper Special Edition There will be folks here and there who would actually buy one. But it is a waste of capital in tooling up to build something only a small niche market will consider actually buying from them. Harley's main concern right now is to just keep existing sales from imploding further. If they could sell a chopper and make a profit, it would already be out there.

I think the folks who desire it want the original, not a modern version of it. And like trying to build and market a chopper, it would be a total waste of time and resources as only old school riders and those interested in nostalgia would be interested--and these folks would not want a modern copy.

The only time I have seen them has been at dealers as display pieces or window dressing. I am sure people who own the replicas will ride them once in a while but the farthest they get ridden is probably just the local bar down the street.

Panzer motor company, Indian dealer I worked for sold those and The Big Machine chopper they made along with a couple other box choppers. The Panzer was a nice well made bike I liked them almost bought one but couldn't swing the deal. We had the Easyrider bike in the showroom for a while , got to take that for a spin occasionally just to be seen.

The Big Red Machine was designed by a HA chapter president as a tribute bike , only made 81 of them and we sold 5 of those, that one was a beast, I really liked riding those.

What complete and utter nonsense.

Then by your logic, ALL 'genuine' built choppers, every single one should be discarded and thrown out when the original owner/builder is through with it otherwise, anyone who ends up with it will be an undeserving poser because in your view (to quote Obummer: "you didn't build that").

How do you fit through doorways with a head that swollen?

Wee bit of difference between riding something that was somebody's vision with some heart & soul put into it verses a cookie cutter clone dropped off the end of a mass production line. Do believe that was the root of the man's comment. Some of us been doing this **** far longer than most in here, we tend to have different view of things from the days when it was real and not a weekend getaway illusion.
