While searching for mid control kits for touring bikes all roads lead to Big Bear Choppers, or Big Bear Performance. These kits are $1000. Great ideas but I can't believe that this is the only place to buy kits for mid controls for a touring bike. I know alot of ppl would say I'm stupid for desiring the mids but I prefer them to forward controls so I understand that I will have to pony up that kinda cash if that is what I'm looking for but there has to be other options. Anyone know of any?
Those are more like forward controls without the floorboards. I'm looking for true mids, like what would be on a dyna, fxr, even a sporty.
And yes those prices aren't any better
If you already have the touring bike, it doesn't help, but it's pretty easy to make a Sportster, Dyna or a Softail into a touring bike. You can have the comfort, riding position, wind protection and luggage. There are plenty of batwing fairings and saddle bags out there.
I can see only two different people paying $2000 for a set of Mids
1. Someone with Truly "Drop in the Bucket" Money
2. Someone with "More Money than Sense"
I hope anyone buying is of the first ... for them and their families sake
agreed. You either one
1. Accept the bike as it was designed
2 pay up
3 spend time fabbing yourself a set up.
Ive slowly hopped off the performance bagger trend as I realized its not really beneficial for the cost. Its still a heavy hog at the end of the day and the foundation itself (the frame) isnt designed for it. Now if you hop up an fxr which is more suitable for mods and close to 300lbs less then Id say go for it.
