Im about to pick up a 2016 Softail deluxe on the weekend at a H-D dealership and Im sure they will me the used bike ESP. The bike itself only has 450 miles on it and been sitting in someones garage for 18 months (or so Im told) anyone thoughts on whether the ESP is the right option or just go with bike with no warranty. Also interested if anyone have a ballpark on a 2 or 3 year ESP? Thanks.
many opinions on warranty which i think are insurance policies i insure only what i can not afford to pay for like health insurance
u don't know history of the bike and i expect you might read the 100 of threads on various warranties both Harley and after market to help make your decisions
READ the policy so u know what your buying , or if you have a partner who is less excited than you about the purchase have them read it.
People love a security blanket (TSA?), but extended warranties are for suckers who dont understand statistics.
That being said, if youre the kind of person who has a dark cloud following you everywhere you buy used vehicles, than perhaps the piece of mind is worth it. Granted they dont immediately try weaseling out of your first claim...
If you are seriously considering an ESP I would give Jim Palmer a call at Boardtracker HD in Janesville Wi and talk to him about the ESP he sells. It would be certainly worth your time.

Why not negotiate at least a one year warranty with the bike. I do have an extended warranty on my bike its a 5 year the only reason I did it because I ride all the time, so at the end of 5 years I will have over 1000000 miles. So my thinking is try to protect your self with a one year and if you think you will at least put on 10000 miles a years go for a longer one.
Theres really no right or wrong answer. Is the dealer giving you any warranty? If yes, skip the ESP as if something is going to break, its usually soon. BUT thats not to say..... Its really whats right for you. Theres a number of threads on this.. good research right here..
