Default What does lowering my sofltail ?

What does lowering my softail do to the bottom of my saddlebags? Will I have to keep an eye on the bottom of my saddlebags to be sure that they won't hit the top of my exhaust ?

Your exhaust is bolt attached to your bike frame isn't it. Your saddle bag mounts are attached to your bike frame by way of the fender struts aren't they. Both will stay the same distance apart as they are now. Lowering means your swingarm along with your tire moves further up in to the fender. Clearance of exhaust to the road surface is usually the issue depending upon how low the exhaust is mounted or designed. If you are lowering your fender by relocating it then that could be an issue with bottom of bag to exhaust. But you can measure ahead of time.

You might drag your saddlebags.

I lowered my Slim and while it looked cool I went back to stock heights after my wife refused to ride with me due to harsh ride. Later on I realized I should adjust preload before lowering it but even with that there is some comfort that will go away with lowering not to mention scraping issues on turns mentioned above. Bottom line for me I rather ride with the girl on my bike then look cool and no girl 👧🏻 🤣

Nothing
Your saddle bags won't touch your pipes just because you lowered your bike.

At least that's true for either EVO or TC softails not sure about the new 8's.
