Default E15 gas...

This has come up again somewhere and I don't remember where. If E15 gas at any octane levels is pushed on us where is a source for new E15 rubber parts for Carbed bikes. Would include petcocks, fuel lines and carb insides. What do car collectors with carbs do?

Pretty certain that carb rebuild kits have had for some time now, parts that don't corrode from ethanol. I could be wrong.

The lobbyists have tried to get E15 passed since day one. I wouldn't worry about it too much. However, that's not to say E10 is good for our bikes.

E10 is fine for bikes that were designed for it. There is no advantage to running non ethanol gas in modern engines.

FWIW, You get less power and worse fuel economy with ethanol.

Ethanol gas is crap ! Less performance and less fuel mileage than regular gas. Plus it seperates when left stored. Damn stuff turns back to corn in carb stuff.
This is why all these additives are made to combat this garbage they keep forcing down our throats. I'll say it again, Ethanol is crap fuel !

I have a 95 carbureted Heritage Softail Classic

The thing about ethanol is it sucked in the 70's and then it was all but done away with yet here we are again with this stupid ****

Yeah, E10 has about 3% less energy per unit volume than pure gasoline. So, if you get about 40 mpg with E10 you'll get 41.2 with pure gas. At the typical price difference, it's not worth it. As far as the power difference, you could only detect that if you were WOT on a dyno. For normal riding you can't tell the difference.

I did say it's ok for bikes that are designed for it and sure if you have to leave the bike parked for a long time, fill the tank with pure gas because it won't go bad on you as quickly.

And for what it's worth, I'm not a proponent of ethanol in gas. I think it's a dumb idea, but I don't worry about putting it into my bike because it doesn't do any harm.
