When traffic starts moving when the light turns green, I always wait until the vehicle in front of me is two or three car lengths ahead of me before I proceed. Rarely have I had anyone honk at me. If they did, I couldn't give a f**k.
It's a reflection of life in general nowadays ! People rushing everywhere, don't want others in front of them, I wish I could go back to when I was a teen when politeness was the order of the day, and not just on the road !...b.
That my friend is very well put ! I remember those days , lots of respect towards each other , on the road and not .
Had an hour or two to kill before meeting the family for Easter brunch yesterday, so I thought I would take my bagger out for a spin. I wanted to check out my new shocks, and make sure that I had indeed fixed the small relay issue I had last week. I came up to an intersection with a gas station on the corner. There were two guys on Harleys in the driveway waiting to pull out. The light in front of me was red, several cars ahead of me, and nothing coming the other way, so I slowed early to let them in front of me. I've been in that station before, and you can sit there a long time trying to get out.
Right away, the MF'er (hereafter known as "ME FIRST") a-hole behind me starts laying on the horn, like he's really upset that I let them in, The two guys nodded at me and quickly jumped into the lane in front of me. At that moment, the light changed to green and we all started moving. They made a right turn and MF'er and I went straight. No harm, no foul. MF'er did drop back a good distance from me for the next five miles. Welcome to riding season in No. IL. At any rate, I'm proud of myself for not reacting badly to MF'er.
Thank you for letting the other guy's in front of you, be it a bike or car. Nothing wrong with road courtesy.
Thank you for being the adult in dealing with that idiot behind you. Road rage is a serious problem today, best way to avoid it is to smile, mentally give them the finger and move on with your life.
Peace
Had a guy roll into my lane with me there today.. He was shocked to see me as I was passing him. Talking to his kid..
So I flipped on the Oil Slick, engaged the retractable machine guns and fired a rocket...
Thanks Q...
A guy I work with tells me when he used to ride around NY in his younger years, he carried marbles in his pocket, which he would use as needed. (He's a little scary, even as an older guy...)

I have my own rule at a red light, especially if I'm first in line.
When light turns green, I count 1001, 1002, 1003 the move.
Thirty years ago in a cage the light turned, the MFer behind me blew horn as a large commercial straight axle flatbed blew the light. he'd of killed me.
Thanks Dad for ingraining the 1003 count into my head.....

My Poppa drove this into my head too, has saved my *** plenty of times from idiots running stop signs and red lights. Been passing this down to my kiddo too.
I rather deal with some inpatient a-hole behind me beeping their horn than becoming another intersection casualty statistic.
