I'm sure I'm beating a dead horse on this, (at least it's not a synthetic or dino oil question!) My wife surprised me with a 96 road king, that I fell in love with the first time I saw it for my birthday that she got from a friend recently. I bought a 22in windshield for it as it didn't have one, and it's great to keep the wind off of me but when I sink down in the seat and get super comfortable the top is right in my line of sight or I'm looking through the windshield itself. I was thinking of getting a 17in Memphis Shades to prevent this. I'm just wondering what everyone's windshield height is and what recommendations y'all can throw out. By the way, I'm 6 ft, if that helps. Thanks everyone, keep the rubber on the road, and Molon Labe!
I put a 17" Memphis Shades windshield on my '04 Road King not long after I bought it, and it's been great. The general rule is that the top of the windshield should be 2" below eye level. If you're 6', I think a 19" or 20" windshield would work better for you. Maybe contact Memphis Shades and see what they recommend?
'96 Road Kings are the best Road Kings on the road! Very nice wife you have there.
The top of the windshield should be roughly between your nose and your mouth. Measure from the windshield cut out for the headlight nacell to just below your nose. This will be the size you want.
I picked up a new elite from Long Ride Shields and love it. Hear good things about Memphis Shades as well.
Congrats on the new Road King

Stock height of RK windshield is 20 inches. For some reason Memphis Shades offers their shields in uneven heights. I just ordered a 21 inch for my 1995 RK. I am 6'2". So. The 1 inch difference in height will be negligible to me. Good luck. Ride safe.
Check out Freedom Shields. You will hear nothing but great things. My order is going to be here this week. I wound up emailing and then calling with a question and he new me by name. And if you read up, there will be almost all rave reviews. Good luck.
I have Windvest on my Wide Glide. I bought 18 inch and didnt like.
Put masking tape where I wanted height, marked it with pen. Took it to glass shop and had it cut to my size. $40
At 6'1" I can easily see over the 18" LRS windshield on my RKC
I just installed the 18 LRS on my FB I can see over it but at above 70+ mph I start getting some head buffeting, not good on long rides. Its a quality shield but disappointed with the buffeting.... Im 60 should have it been taller?
