I just got this 1997 widglide and did a primary change. The drainplug seems to be going WAY up in there with no tension. Do you know if it has torque specs? The manual isn't helping. don't want to keep cranking and have it wind up inside the primary housing.

That has one of those 739A plugs, tapered pipe plug. Most were instructed to tighten until a certain millimeter measurement protruded from the case, like 4.1-4.6. They’re cheap enough, start with a new plug and just snug it up without going too far in if your manual doesn’t list a depth.

Thank you! I read the manual but its really confusing. I did snug it up a little. Its actually embedded a little and test rode fine. Im having issues with this old school manual. Ive been spoiled having the 2008 fxd manual.
I've got the same flavor of bike as the OP. There is no torque spec on that drain plug and yes, it goes WAY up in there. It's a little unnerving tightening it up. Just snug it plus some. Don't go Godzilla on it. Mine has never leaked.
