Default Looking back

Looking back to the time that I bought my 2006 Dyna Street Bob just a month before the 2007's came out and I was sort of pi$$ed that I could have waited a month and had the 96 twim cam engine.

Now that I have read and heard people complain about the the heat issues with the 96" engine and looking at the 2008 line up I feel that even though I thought that I had made a bad choice June 1, 2006, I feel very confident now "That I didn't".

Matrix,
I bought my 06 Deluxe with the 07's right there next to it. I predict as follows: the tc88 will become a prized Harley engine, while that 96 will be resented. Why? Simple: anyone living in a city or town within the majority of the US is going to suffer like a dog from the heat coming off of that 96. I readily agree that the 96 might be very nice on the freeway. Tell me, Matrix, just how much do you find yourself on any freeway? We live in a day and age with everyone huddled in the cities. Traffic is a nightmare everywhere. I have been observing my fellow riders for months now, literally suffering in traffic on those 96's. And, by the way, this past week, with the holiday traffic, even the freeways were not what they once were. My guess is that maybe 10 percent of the average rider's mileage is on an open road. I just saw one good friend of mine turn around and go right back home to change into jeans when he found wearing shorts in today's 95 degree weather to be impossible on the 96 engine. And the jeans still won't bring down the heat on your leg to that coming off of an 88. And no oil cooler, no fan, nothin' is going to help this matter. Sure, there are plenty of guys who have no problem riding on 96, 117, etc., etc., sized engines. But they are one tiny number compared to the overall general bike community. If HD does not continue to offer that 88, then the resale prices for their machines prior to 07 is going to go up up and up. I think you were smart to take the 88. If you doubt your decision, go test ride that 96 in hot weather and in the normal traffic that we have almost everywhere in this country today.

Took home my EG less than a month before the 07swerereleased... and not a regret in the world. Do I have anything against the 07s? Heck no. Who's to say I wouldn't have bought one instead if I had waited another month? Anywho, a PCIII and a nice map and the heat issue goes away. Or so I've heard.

07 Fatty here. Nothing to bitch about. First 1K no problems, heat genereated by the engine didnt bother me at all. Switched to synthetic for her first oil change and notice a cooler temp. Will be adding a set of Big Shot Staggards soon and the Fuel Pak to richen her up. Dont regret a thing.

BTW, I ride my scooter to and from work, for pleasure etc...in Tucson AZ....and its the dead middle of Summer......no complaints.
