97 fatboy with acceleration problems

Just tried to take my bike out for a quick ride to test my shifter and it refused to accelerate. I got it to almost 20 mph and when i attempted to shift to 2nd it lost all acceleration can someone help if i were to guess id say its something to do with the clutch and or clutch cable am i wrong?

Need more info...did the motor rev, but no speed; was it running smoothly or did it break up, etc?

Yes the bike is stock i havent done anything to it

You're going to have to provide some more specific detail. What you're describing could be any number of things.

How did you get it home? Will it pull at all?

How many miles on the bike?
