My older HD mount worked fine, but just wanted something different since I haven't bought anything for the bike in a few weeks. Yeah, it's a problem. I was looking mostly at the RAM mount but after reading several reviews and doing the research I decided to go with the Ciro #50311 phone mount instead (Saw it in a John Maxwell YT video). I ordered the phone holder and perch mount without charger as I already have a cable ran for power to the phone. I originally installed the Ciro perch mount, but realized it slightly blocked the view of the switches and sat higher than I wanted it. So after installing it, I took it off and put the HD perch mount back on. The Ciro has a .625" ball while the HD measures around .650". I ended up having to use the nut (same threads exactly) from the HD phone mount as the internal thread min ID is larger and fit the Ciro thread perfectly with the slightly larger ball. The Ciro nut would not go on without modifying it or forcing it which would have probably broken it. I have the HD mount & bought the Ciro phone holder without realizing the ***** are different sizes. The nuts are the same size on both of mine so not sure how you got the HD nut to fit.

The ***** on mine were different by a very small amount. I was able to use the HD nut with the Ciro phone holder with the HD perch mount. What are your ball sizes? Maybe Ciro or HD made a change?
It looks like the thread on the Ciro doesn't go all the way to the end. Neither nut wants to grab it. I just ordered the Ciro bar mount which should have the slightly smaller ball so hopefully it'll work out.
