I've been pretty lucky in that all the bugs I've hit while riding either hit the windshield or my face shield on my helmet. Until last night. After work I took a quick ride up to Carnellian Bay, Lake Tahoe...just to clear my head. I left Reno it was close to 90 degrees. Wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Gorgeous ride...until the sun began to set behind the tree line. As the sun began to set I suddenly felt something crawling around inside my helmet, on my ear. I pull over and take the helmet off and a bug flys away. No big deal. Put the helmet back on and off I went. But more bugs prevailed. Next one landed inside my eye lid. I blinked a few times and got it to crawl out of my eye, down my face and right into my mouth. It only crunched one time and then I swallowed. Years ago my Drill sergeant told me they are good protein.
Next bug landed right inside my mouth. Didn't bother chewing this one...just swallowed.
With a full face helmet there's not a lot of choices. Spitting it out could be a real challenge. LOL
I counted no less than 6 bugs that made it into my mouth. I know...keep your lips closed and it won't happen. But the ride just makes me smile. Can't help it. I swallow...and I'm good at it!
Luckily, I don't get any bugs in my mouth, so I don't have to make that decision. And I don't see any way possible that this thread could get sideways, with the title, and all.
