You hit the nail on the head. RDRS adds almost 1k to the price if the bike. Road Glide Limited in two tone pair with that option is over 32k plus tax..34 + with tax. No longer a inexpensive hobby for anyone..

But you get a free dealer t-shirt with the purchase.

My '14 has ABS but I didn't even know that until I was driving off the lot with it (last year, used). I've never needed it, thankfully. I guess my point in all this is I'd like my bike to be more bike and less computer. Not that my opinion amounts to a hill of beans.
Yep. I never needed the ABS on my 2014 either. Until a herd of elk ran out in front of me last year outside of Ukiah Oregon.

Well, yeah. I've never needed my smoke detectors either.

Funny the names manufactures come up with for common technology--

Harley Reflex Defense Rider System = traction control and cornering ABS.

BMW Adaptive ABS Pro = cornering ABS.

Harley will probably add an adjustable windscreen and call it 'special advanced airflow and wind management system'

You cant replicate everything in the lab or figure everything out with a few test bikes. All manufacturers have to go through this break-in period. I think it's fairly new tech, as in 2017 BMW did not have cornering abs, and that's why I bought a 2018 that did. At least on the r1200gs.
And I thought only ktm had it a year earlier.

For what its worth the system has never kicked in and never been intrusive. Only trigged the abs practicing fast stops.

Now if they can just come out with electronic suspension, I won't have to mess setting sag for the 2 up rides anymore!

Besides ice we are coming up on fall very quick and those mountain roads are going to be covered with leaves and when they are wet they may as well just be ice. throw in tar snakes which are annoying as all get out when dry and traction control and abs can keep the rubber side down.

as for disabling the bike, last I checked no abs system failing will affect normal braking. just be glad Harley never had BMW's whizzy brakes... god that was an an annoying few years.
