Generally speaking I don't like change, especially with iconic brands like Harley, BMW, Mercedes, Ford, etc..
However, the new logo looks fine, classy, and is still very obviously "Harley" enough. The text thing is sort of lame, but most of their merchandise it seems contains text nowadays, rather than the big black/orange bar and shield.
"Looking for ideas, here people! Sales are dropping like a stone!"
"We could correct the sumping problem with the M8"
::snooze::
"How about doing something about the ABS failures?"
::snooze::
"Hire some hipsters to twiddle with the logo?"
:: ON IT!!! ::
Classic ^ and sadly, probably right on point.
It could also be that descendants of the Harley and Davidson families successfully sued to have their names removed from the logo out of shame That or they let the trademark lapse and a company in China got the rights to the original.

WTF. I may just have to sell my Harley and all my Harley stock in protest. Harley has one of the most recognizable logos in the world, and they are changing to a generic blah logo? With management like this, I'm not surprised the MoCo is getting onto shakier and shakier ground.
EDIT: following up to my knee-jerk reaction: I can find no credible source (even through HD) that confirms a change in the logo. If someone has such a source please let me know.
