Default ANNIVERSARY VALUES. POLE VOTE!!

Well...well....well, it looks as though some of you may need to eat your own words, because I was at Westminster HD today and they had an Anniversary EditionHeritage Softail, #260/5000. As I had said ina couple previous posts, as much as I dislike the idea of an Anniversary bike being produced every 5 years, the 2008 year would be different from the rest. Why? Because unlike the past, these bikes are serialized and in the case of the Heritage Softail, there will be only be 5000 made. That is the total allotment for the entire country. Obviously not all the models made will have anniversary editions either, so this is where supply and demand kicks in which will drive the future value of these bikes. Some of you said that you thought there would be no difference in future value, so I would like to take a Poll now to see what you think based on what we now know about these bikes.

Sorry but 5000 of one bike model is a hell of a lot of bikes. That is probably close to the entire amount of Buell Bikes sold in the US in a year. You would be better off just getting one of the custom paint sets. Some of them are only 150 made. What you are looking at is certainly not going to make you bike go up in value.

Still not buying it. Nice color but the anniversary "collectors" thing is too over done.

I saw a video stating that there would be 1050 bikes produced. Not sure for which models. It was on www.americanrider.com

Edit: 1800 105th SE Ultras, 1800 105th SE RK, 1050 105th SE Dyna, 1050 SE Softails, or something to that affect.

5,000?? The 1992 Daytona model was only 1,700 and it is worth little more than any other 1992 model. And that was 1,700 of one model, not 1,700 of each model HD made that year.

If I recall, there were only 2,000 95th Anniversarys made in each model, again, no special value. Same with the 85th as I recall, and they were serialized also. This not the first time that an anniversary or commenorative model has been limited and serialized.

If you think it's going to be a great investment just get a dozen of them and hide them away, but why is it so important for you to convience the rest of us???

If I was in the market for a new bike I would buy one of the 105th models. Not because of any possible collectors value, but because I like the color combo. 20 plus years from now maybe they might be worth a little more than another bike, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I bought an 03 Anniversary because I really liked the looks of it. If I upgrade to a deuce or WG, I will buy another 03. If it goes up in value, that's great. I think it may have some effect on depreciation that might help its value stay up a bit more than an 02. As always, mileage, maintenanceand condition are the key factors to its value. Makes for a good sales pitch, though.
Ancillary items such as derby covers, medallions, etc., seem to be getting a premium. Kolni's right about the keeping it stock thing - it's just not happening. Chrome is addictive.
