Dare I say it-Looking for a Trailer-anyone know Chariot?
Alright, let the flaming begin! Does anyone know anything about the Chariot line of trailers? Specifically looking at http://www.chariot-trailer.com/index...&Itemid=35
I really like riding and seeing new places but riding the interstate sucks *****. I have rented bikes and toured Mexico,NC, TN and FL My wife and I are getting into riding together (she rides also now) and I know for a fact that her kind of vacation is has nothing to do with eating bugs and being blown around by semis. Hey, what am I doing? I don't owe you guys an explanation. But I would like to hear if you know anything about these trailers.
RE: Dare I say it-Looking for a Trailer-anyone know Chariot?
My understanding is the trailers up your way are very expensive, you may want to look into going a bit farther south and get some prices, Locally you can buy a 6x12 for $2,200 /$2,500 range. The very best trailers out there are Wells Cargo, they are not cheap though, Keep in mind your only trailering a bike, it's not like your loadin it with equiptment that is going to get thrown around, so the best trailer is not really needed. Small tires are no good, they get way to hot, make sure you look at something with real tires and rims not the utility type.

They look like good trailers to me. I have a small 6X10 inclosed made by Pace and really like it. I would recommend the inclosed one if you can swing it. When I haul the bike for long distant vacation, everything goes in the trailer. Even all the hag up cloths have a place to hang in the trailer. And if you could see the way the wife packs for a seven day outing.

I have an Iron Horse 2-Bike Flip Top. I am in the Army and am always moving and got tired of the movers blowing my fork seals and scratching my paint.
I like them because they are aerodynamic, lightweight, and have extra room (even with both bikes) to allow all the normal BS that goes with moving cross country and keeping the wife happy when we go to rallies. She looks good and she's a dream to tow as well. Riders always come up and ask me about where to get one.

thanks for the comments. my thoughts about this one is that i could put some cabinets in it perhaps some water/propane and i could even use it as a sleeper and tailgater for the football games.

I'm with you, looking to buy a good trailer, I'm getting to old to drive 800 miles a day on my bike. When I do by the time I reach my destination I'm too tired to ride. I'm thinking about buying an Iron Horse trailer, they look pretty nice. Good luck!

Have a Pace 16 ft trailer, tandem axle. Like it alot plus it is a great place to park bikes when not riding. Don't have to cover it or worry about people bumping in to it. I live at the bottom of the earth, South Florida so it takes forever to get out of here and do some real riding. And it gave me a reason to sell my gas pickup and buy a nice diesel pickup. Who cares what people think!
RE: Dare I say it-Looking for a Trailer-anyone know Chariot?
Dad got a Chariot trailer about 15 years ago. Single axle basic two bike setup with a side walk through door (very importnat). The family has used it to move, haul boy scout equipment, transport riding mowers, and even carry motorcycles. It's been used more and harder than most who are just going to use it for cycles.
The plywood (inside the fiberglass) floor is starting to get weak, and the rear door is not as tight as it used to be, but the trailer has held up GREAT.
