removing a back tire
I can purchase the tools that are needed to replace the tire and can follow the directions in the manual for belt adjustments etc but what about balancing? Do we need to balance the wheel/tire combination once we replace the tire or is balancing not an issue with a motorcycles?
Bill
You can pull a wheel just about anywhere LOL, all you need is this forum member![sm=signs007.gif]
This was out in Colorado on highway 149 outside Creede and a half mile from no were LOL
Still disappointing to me that you didn't get to finish the ride. At least you made it to the top of Mt. Evans and the rest of us didn't.Based on your experience, I have purchased a set of Street Glide wheels and will have them on the bike before the next trip.
By the way, did your dealer make the wheel right when you got it back? I talked to our dealer here, and he said that he was sure HD would make it good..

Bill,
We were disappointed that we didn't get to do the ride on Tues. and Wed, but we still had a great time. Sometimes you just have to make the best of a situation. Besides, I know you guys are already planning a ride for 2008!
I dropped my wheel of to Annapolis HD and the tech thought they would still cover it. Bike was about three weeks out of warranty when it happened; I'm still waiting for an answer.
Besides the wheel problem, the speedo quit because of an S&S adaptor for the six speed I had installed which is being fixed under warranty, but that screws with the EFI. Then when we got to Indiana on the ride back the rear Rinehart header pipe cracked again and ended up with a bad exhaust leak. Well the oxygen sensor for the ThunderMax must have pick up on that and changed the mix, I'd back off the throttle and get back fires, I pulled in a gas stop in West Virginia and me and the guy with an old International Harvest tractor with no muffler, pulling up to the pump with a hay baler in tow sounded about the same. LOL But everything is getting straightened out. I'll let ya know about the wheel when I find out.
Sorry for high jacking your thread Bagger Bob.
easy - if you have the lower belt guard removed don't even mess with adjustors just let the wheel down and take the belt off on bikes with all the exhaust on the right turn the axel around so next time you don't have to pull one exhaust pipe ( pt it in from the left side) only hassle I ever have is the brake calipher and that is small.

Make sure you lube the axle with a good anti-seize. Mark the spacers with a grease pencil, not only left and right side, but also which end of the spacer goes next to the wheel bearing. The spacers should be chamfered next to the bearing. Sometimes lining up the spacers and the wheel can be a royal pain when installing, if you get a piece of PVC tubing which is smaller than the spacers, you can use this to hold everything together. Then when you push the axel in, the PVC will come out the other side.
