I have a 2016 Sportster but I just replaced the lower end (crank case and transmission) from a 2015. It starts but the idle is real high. The lowest i have been able to get it using a FP3 is around 2,300 rpm and it is ragged. Any thoughts?
Other modifications. It is a 2016 Iron 883 with a 1250 conversion and after market pipes and air cleaner.
Are you 100% sure the air cleaner is on correctly? This happened to me once when putting
on a stage 1 free flow air cleaner. Forgot to take off a bracket, and that made about a 1 mm gap 'twixt the AC and throttle body.
High idle (2k - 2.5k RPM) every time I ran it until I discovered my screw-up.
Since you are using an FP3 , you may want to try this . . Reflash the ecm back to the stock map , which the FP3 should have stored in slot #1 in the list . Delete all the other maps in the list , then try loading a fresh map to your bike .
I'm using the FP3 as well , you could give V&H a call and talk with them about your set up and see which map they recommend . Run the new map and if your having any issues , send them that map and they will make necessary changes and send it back .
Question , the lost com error you got , did you happen to start the bike and after a few seconds , did it stall ? If so , it's a known thing . I turn my ignition on , and then turn the switch on the handle bar to the run position , hasn't happened since . I think it has something to do with the security system communicating with the ecm .
