HD is overpriced,I will never buy another new HD.Its called corporate greed, the guy at the top/in charge makes big money and the little guy who really makes the product for the corporation gets penauts. It all started changing in mid 70s and getting worst all the time.Just my opinion and yes I am a small business owner so don't tell me how a business is supposed to operate.

The build a bike scenario is not going to work IMO. People want what they want now. They won't wait for their specs.

The HD's management should cut their salaries/bonus and let these employees keep their jobs.

if there isn't enough work to keep those 500 employees busy, what are they suppose to do? sweep the floor all day? people complain about the cost of a bike and then says HD should carry 500 more employees than is required to produce what the market is calling for. they might want to brush up on economics.

Ok I’m all ears as to any suggestion you might bring to the table to save jobs.

Everyone knows the bikes are way over priced for what your getting and they sell as some sort of status / life style BS and making gem cheaper just might be as easy as that to get sales / bikes moving.

Hey I’ll never buy another one so They got their pound of fleas outta me, but with sales down and cutting jobs, What’s your thoughts on this rather than quoting scripture.

Dloors all yours ......

I found this order form for a 1970 Oldsmobile. Yikes.

I went on the steel toe tour at the Harley plant in York PA, This was about the time the Kentucky plant was being dismantled and shipped to York.

I very much doubt that they would have a problem like you suggest as they had only 1 line for the custom ordered bikes in operation when I was there, and plenty if room to expand should that be required.

But if you think all the sales generated from a sales event like Toyota / Ford / Chevy with a couple of grand off last years model , That might be a good starting point just to get cash flowing right now rather people loosing their jobs.

As expected, some members will sarcastically comment but add nothing in value to the situation rather then look at the bigger picture. 150 jobs all ready gone. 500 more to go, getting rid of your skilled labor force, **** may as well make them over seas / Keep stock holders happy with cheaper labor and same profits.

Harley’s stock is dropping points and that it’s only a matter of time before stockholders move on to something shinny and new like Tesla.

**CAUTION** Stink bomb alert

the year I've been here I see there are lots of recurring complaints of this, that and the other
along with "who's at fault" for it and what to do about it

But haven't heard anything about union workers .
Been in a few myself (UAW for 13 years, and a couple local Teamsters)
I'm not anti-union, but they can throw a monkey wrench in the works often
(hard to get rid of dead weight slackers as well as utilize manpower best based on individuals strengths and weaknesses )
and then there's the often adversarial relationship to sour shop floor workers attitudes.
especially at contract time.....

It's not a great recipe for top quality workmanship, gents .....

flame suit on
