I decided to finally break down and get a pair of high quality sunglasses for riding. I've tried 5-6 pairs, most of which were not comfortable to wear with my helmets. I found a pair that fit well down in Florida in the Spring of '99 for $15, but the lenses are low quality and distort my vision a bit. Got a pair of Wiley X "Gravity" sunglasses today at my local HD dealer and really like them. Of course, I paid the HD tax on them. What are your favorites?
I find a pair with the right shape for me, to deflect the wind from my eyes (no windshield on the Shovel). Don't have to be expensive, or name-brand.to be decent quality, although I like Bolle.
I've torn so many up over the years...now I make an honest effort to take care of a good pair. Got about three pairs that are the same, and the oldest one is about 8 years old now.
I have Wiley-X Sleek glasses with my prescription in them. They transition from tint to clear. Before you go buy them somewhere you should check to see what you vision plan in your health insurance covers. I only had to pay the extra cost for polarized lenses. Everything else was covered.
splurged on some Maui Jims several years ago. They are known for their lenses, which are amazing. And they fit my face perfectly. Best glasses I've ever worn riding by far. Well worth it
I recently did the same thing. I ordered some Wiley X online and they didn't fit my face well, there was a gap between my cheek and the bottom of the foam. Finally went to the HD dealer and tried some on to get the right fit. They were 20% off so it didn't hurt quite as bad, but still north of $100. They are the light adjusting lenses so I don't have to change them out riding in the evening or early morning.
I have two pairs of the ($40 or so) sunglasses sold by the H-D dealerships (one tinted and one transitional lenses) with the foam surrounded frames.
The only complaint that I have with then is that with my FF Mod helmet I cannot wear the glasses as the arms are forced to tightly against my ears/head but they're not really needed as my helmet has a "drop-down" tinted shield as well as the clear screen.
