How critical is this to replace?

How critical is this to replace?

Was spray waxing my EG out in the dimly lit garage and managed to break the little rubber vent tube off the top of the chrome tranny cover. How critical is this to replace? I can see maybe water getting into it if I sprayed directly at it with a hose but beyond that do I really need to worry with it?

Not if it stays waxed, in garage. Why not just replace it? Skip buying cosmetics rest of month, and you will save enough money

Replace it, it points downward for a reason.

If you're going to replace the vent hose, which I recommend, you might need to get a top cover gasket too.

How does a rubber hose break? More than likely it just fell off. Get some more lighting and take a look...probably go back on as easily as it came off
