We have a personal responsibility not to spread this disease to anybody, not just your mother.

And seriously, someone who made the choice to go to a gathering like Sturgis in the middle of a pandemic has no business preaching about personal responsibility.
You cant argue with these people... its worthless. They have no sense of personal responsibility or any sense of common decency when it comes to anyone outside of themselves. It's "all about me" and will throw out all kinds of rediculous arguments to justify their selfish behavior. This is a health problem, not political problem... and yet, they will accuse you of being affiliated with a political party and throw out crazy arguments. Meanwhile the vast majority of health officials, doctors, epidimiologitsts, scientists all over the world urge the same measures to deal with this virus. If we did not implement any of these measures how many would be dead? Maybe million or two million people in 6 mo...? Really... where would we be? And you think we would have any sense of a normal society with the rate of infections and deaths related from those infections? No we would not.

380 new cases today (state wide), the number had been about 125 daily.
Total cases Meade county (Sturgis) 294, up from 167 at end of rally.
Total cases Pennington county (Rapid City) 1406.
Total cases Minnehaha county (Sioux Falls) 5235
Yes the numbers have increased since the rally. I'd hardly call that a spike.
Seems like most new cases are in the Sioux Falls area. East side of SD, big population center.
You can plainly see the Sturgis area is a very small part of the whole state. 294 cases versus 5235 cases.

That was yesterday's stat's from the SD health Dept. Here's the link;

https://doh.sd.gov/news/Coronavirus.aspx#SD It's updated daily at 8:00 a.m.

6 more cases in the Sturgis area (Meade county) today. Yawn.
187 cases statewide today, down from 380 yesterday. Yawn.
Also posted yesterday in Off Topic <Sturgis COVID Count>

Its good you are looking at data and I respect that. Now realize they estimate 40% are asymptomatic so there's that. But what I would ask is ... what about the hundreds of thousands that are out of state and went back home? That is the concern of a super spreader event. Enough exposure at a single event to cause exposure over a wide area.

What about it?
Time to get on with life.
It's up to the individual to weigh risk and act. Sturgis has been done for more then a few days, weeks if you count early arrivals & departures. I think if it was gonna be a super spreader it would show in the numbers. I don't see it right now.

Pretty sure all states use the residence of record. 294 from 167 is a huge jump for a county of only 26,000 population. 76% increase isn’t something to dismiss.

I guess what frustrates some of us seems to be the disregard for others. We could argue science... policy... etc... no problem. But the total disregard for life that's what gets me. Would you feel the same way if it was your mom or brother that passed from this? What if it was a result from an exposure from you? Would you feel the same way? Until this thing is under control... we will not have a strong economy no matter what. It's in all of our best interest to come together. I think about the greatest generation... the one that faced down ww1, ww2 and the great depression. They came together and put this country on the road to be strongest country in the world.

My life goes on. I was out fishing tonite, just got back to the dock.

You don't know me or the others on this Forum. My Mom is 94 and in a nursing home. I've visited her since my return from the Black Hills. What you see as a total disregard for life is just your opinion. I agree that's its time to come together. Quit pushing your opinion on others.

Oh yes I do. You keep coming back from the basement where you are hiding out. I'll live my life, you live yours.
I'll be back in the morning with Tuesday's SD stats.

According to the cdc, 94% had other conditions that contributed to their death. So 6% were completely actual Kung flu deaths thus far. If one trusts the cdc which I don’t, those aren’t too bad of odds if one is in good health. If you got health issues, self quarantine until you can accept the risk of being in public. Let those of us who have been working and living life to fullest continue on.
