Default 21" vs 23" wheel

Posting this for a friend of mine. He has a 2017 Streetglide and looking to go to a 21" or 23" wheel. He's heard the 23" changes the ride, i.e. front end wobbles. Does anyone have a 23" and has it changed the ride?

Thank you...

It will change the trail, which will in turn change the ride. I can only speak to going from a 16" to a 21" wheel. Yes, it affects it quite a bit. The front end felt heavier but more stable at highway speeds. I've done a 21" on more than one bike and it's the same. I would imagine 23" would exaggerate this even more, possibly to the point of feeling wobbly at low speed.

And it's okay, no one will judge you here for going 23". Posting for a friend...

I appreciate the feedback. I’m perfectly happy with the 21” on my Deuce. As far as my friend, that’s another story... 🤦‍♂️

Question on this.

You put a 21" on the front and raise the rear an inch, will said bike still steer/feel heavy ?

Big wheel bikes are over. So why spend money to decrease the bikes value and destroy its handling?

I have spent loads of money decreasing the value of my bike but I didn't build it for the next guy I built it for me. The rake and trail can be worked out on a bigger wheel so it handles great. Anything you can think of has been done before so dive in and get your hands dirty and make it work.

I guess I should explain. My newest bike is an 01. I like classic style, value and reliability. Hate trends. So my comment is based on the idea that the cost is high, the value is low, and the riding pleasure is decreased. Other than bragging rights, which are very low, since big wheels are at the end of their popularity, there is no reason to install one.

It’s not my bike.

My friend wants to change it out. I don’t care what he does with his bike. It’s his to do what he likes.

If someone wants to take a $100 bill and light it on fire, that’s on them. They can do whatever they want with their money...
