Default Tire and Wheel Package Warranty

I went to back the bike out of the garage this morning and it wouldn't move. Got off, took a look at the front tire and there's a screw embedded in the center.

My local dealership will pick it up tomorrow, thank goodness I went with the tire/wheel package, I can't remember what it cost but grateful. The tire has about 3000 miles on it. So, new tire tomorrow for $50.

Just had my 4th tire installed in less than 2 years. Three rears and a front.

I ride enough that tire warranties usually pay off for me. Mine is zero deduct! Three new roofs installed on my street this summer. Can't believe I didn't get a couple simplex or roofing nails.

Funny how optional warranties work. I just traded a '17 UL which had a 5 year extended warranty, plus the tire/wheel package. In 4 seasons of riding I had exactly zero problems with the bike, and no flat tires or wheel damage. I probably burned over $3k in those warranties and all it bought me was some peace of mind. I ride mainly in rural Appalachian areas with not-so-great roads and plenty of hazards. So when I recently bought a new 2020 RGL I declined all the optional warranties. I figure I need to burn through X amount of my own dollars before the warranties would begin to save me money, and this time I'm going with my own checkbook instead of buying warranties.

But don't get me wrong. I'm not against them at all. I've just never had one pay off in the end. It's worth keeping in mind that dealers know the price of any warranties are almost always part of the financed cost, and therefore we pay interest on top of the warranty cost. As an example: If you finance $3k in warranty packages over 60 months at 3.99% (Eaglemark's best rate) you'll add 10% or $300 interest to the cost. Obviously a tire/wheel package is a lot less, and possibly a good value for some riders.

it was impossible, I had to put some air in just to roll the bike out. A new washing machine was being delivered. Seems like it's expense after expense these days.

i have the same coverage, but have not had to use it yet...do they charge for the pickup, or is that part on you?

Which tire and wheel warranty did you get? The one I got from the dealership is from a company called Portfolio. I got a flat tire on the 18th. Towing coverage was only $100 and I had to pay $145...for a 4-mile trip to the dealership. Hopefully the new tire won't cost me anything...still waiting for them to put it on.

I believe towing is included to the nearest dealership. But my dealership is picking up anyway. You ought to be able to claim the tow from the tire and wheel package if they charge you.
