That's really not to bad a price for what your getting. (5k) My son sells high end bicycles and some cost way more than than. Oh and you have no e-motor option either.
Some bicycles cost as much as cheap cars anymore. My "cheap" bicycle was $650 new and I got it on a black Friday type sale for half that. A decent bike, you're looking at $1k anymore just to look.
I must have missed it, I didn't see a link or a pic to the HD bike.
Go to Trek, Specialized, Giant, Scott, Cannondale websites.
Top tier Mountain bikes all in the 10 to13K range.
You can get some Really nice bikes in the 3 to 5K range.
A large number of road bikes at the trails I ride are 7K +
High end (Zipp, or Hed) carbon wheels are MORE than 3K alone.
I would say 5K for a name brand (well built?) E-bike is about right.
Looked into using E-bike motors on some builds.
$1700.00 and up for the best motors. (that is motor only and would need other parts like throttle and battery)
Also that is "OEM supplier" pricing.
I went and checked them out. I'm not in the markey, but for what I'm seeing based on the prices of other things in this genre, it's really not bad. That's sad...
Love to rock this thing in the Rockies.
Even living in Denver and riding 200+ miles a week. You just can't train for altitude unless you live up there.
Cannondales top end FS MTB was 9K
All of them come with a bunch of smaller motors/batteries and lower level parts for half as much.
