Default GPS Tracker For Motorcycles

So the bike I bought 3 weeks ago was stolen yesterday. The first thing the Police asked was, "Did it have a GPS tracking device on it". So my research shows lots of mini devices and they're cheap. Does anyone recommend one in particular before I order one from Spytek?

Sorry to hear that, HB. Where was it when it was stolen, and what kind of lock stuff did you have on it? I‘M just asking as a learning opportunity.

Parked on the street in front of my house. Didn't have it locked.

I would be very surprised if they would have done squat even if it did have a gps device.

That said, there are a bunch of tiny gps devices.

Sorry your bike was ripped off. That does suck. Been there.

So look carefully at how the GPS tracker communicates and how much the monthly service charge is.

As far as I'm concerned, if they steal it they can have it, I wouldn't want a recovered bike.

As someone else said, you have to look at the monthly service charge for the tracking. The devices themselves are cheap. Check out Brickhouse Security, lots of choices.

You may, or may not, find this interesting.

When I graduated high school my parents got me a Kawasaki H1. I didn't have a license for a cage yet.
I rode it to school, UNLV, for three weeks during which time I always put a dog choke chain collar through the rear wheel. I knew where it was parked there wasn't much chance of it being lifted into the back of a truck.
Then I was late for class one day and didn't use my 'security' chain. A hour later I left my class to discover my scooter was gone. The police found the frame a few years later.

Back then Kawasakis had the key code stamped on the triple clamp. I've always suspected someone saw the code, bought a replacement key, and checked every day to see if my 'security chain' was in use?
It is possible someone just happened to be looking for a scooter to steal, but that would have been quite a coincidence.

My point is that sometimes even minor "lock stuff" may help. Of course there are other factors such as location, people in the area, etc..
