The tray hooks on a metal tab. As mentioned, push it toward the front of the bike to get it under and out from that tab. When you release it you will know. One thing to add, the strap under my battery was very thin and it broke when I lifted mine up so be prepared for that.
Before I set the new battery in place I put a better strap under it to lift it out next time. Mine came from a throwaway back pack or something similar. Much heavier than the thin factory strap.
