I'm a 5'3" heavy set woman, and getting pretty close to 50 years old. I ride a black Deluxe and I get alot of comments, specially liked the lady that came up to me and said "did you ride that all by yourself". Hub and I both ride Deluxes and we get lots of nice compliments where ever we ride.
Yeah, the only remark my boss made about my bike the first time I rode it to work was "Well you can tell who we are paying too much!!" Backhanded is better than nothing I guess.
As I walk down the hall on the way to my office a few weeks ago, one of my co-workers sees me go by and asks "How many miles on your Road King now?". I tell him I just hit 40,000. He turns around to go back to talking with another co-worker and says "Have you taken a good look at his RK lately? It's two years old and still looks brand new, the paint and the chrome are flawless". The two guys who had been having a conversation before I walked in both ride Triumphs. Made me smile.
I get the "nice bike" comment often, it's funny how you can get that comment from any and all types of people.
The boss at my place of employment reacted a little differently to motorcycles. Granted, he did sanction three specific spots in the 500 space parking lot for motorcycles. But cars and trucks were all the time parking in them and they were signed Motorcycle parking only. The head honchos in the office were too busy with their thumbs up their *****, to enforce any rules about parking. I work for a major freight line and our bosses are mostly richard craniums. Well, one day this one guy who rides went in to the head managers office to complain about trucks parking in the motorcycle specific spots and the manager says, OK, I'll just eliminate the motorcycle parking spots. And he did . I had a stroke 14 weeks ago and I don't want to go back there. There's got to be a better place to work than that.
I guess I'm kinda lucky here - my boss rides a 03 road king. I guess you could say he's pretty understanding when I want time off for rides like bikeweek, biketoberfest, etc. we even did a x-mas toy run together, but the bottom line is he's still the boss.

Jedsporty883 - you've got an easy fix.
Go to the Motor Vehicle department and get a rules of the road book. Give it to your boss. When he says what the heck is ths for - tell him that the Motor Vehicle department treats motorcycles just like cars - we are required to take up one parking spaceONLY in the parking lot - if more than one bike inone parkingspot-they get a ticketed. Then I would tell him -
"See - you ruined a good thing - by elimating the three motorcycle spots, (which -most of us would park more than three bikes in) you have just created less space for cars now because all of us will now take up one whole space for each motorcycle. You might want to reconsider the motorcycle parking area. Oh and If you don't believe me - check with the Motor Vehicle Department. Have a good day."

I work for the City and our Mayor thinks it's the coolest thing that one of his female employees rides a motorcycle! Our Fire Chief rides as well and he stops by just to talk motorcycles with me. It really is funny, the reactions I get when people find out I ride a Harley.
