I thought about getting the Harley GDO but at $139.oo I decided to get a universal remote from Home Deep for $24.oo. I velcro'ed it to the front of my mini tach can so I could remove it to wash the bike or if I got caught in the rain. It works great and ya' can't even see it if ya' ain't lookin' for it.
I may be misreading the OP's post but I understand him to say that his garage door opened on it's own while he was away from home, correct?
If so, this doesn't mean the H-D receiver is bad it's just that it may somehow have received a signal from a compatible transmitter (or a power surge) and reacted to that signal.
Only way to prevent that is to pull the power cord to the garage door opener when you leave home and IF you want to make it more secure put a (or two) padlocks through the rood and the rails to prevent illegal (or at least make it more difficult) entry.
I have two H-D openers (one came on my CVO Ultra and the other on my Tri-Glide).
Currently the one on my Tri-Glide is acting up (won't open/close the door) and I've been putting off pulling the fairing to attempt to locate the problem.
In the meantime I'm just using one of the transmitters from one of our vehicles.
