Default Voyage to Fuel Moto

Got divorced in April and decided to treat myself to a 128 install at Fuel Moto....if anything can distract me it's having Jamie & crew do their magic on my '19 RGU. To be honest the 114 with the RS468 is more than I'll ever need but I'll admit, I have the sickness and it makes me smile!

I bought a Time Out Deluxe camper for the trip from New Hampshire to Wisconsin and I'm planning on continuing west through Sturgis and probably as far as Wyoming before turning for home. It's going to be an epic, bucket list kind of trip for me.

Camper's packed and ready.

Almost ready to roll... just have to throw my refrigerator/ freezer cooler on the tongue.

Did about 400 miles today and landed at Watkins Glen State Park in New York. Going to spend the day here tomorrow and explore the area on the bike.

Beautiful sunny ride almost all the way. As I was pulling into the park the sky opened up and there was an intense thunder/ lightning/pouring rain storm. Got absolutely soaked but it cleared off 30 minutes later and I got the camper set up.

Wonder what I'll do tonight...

This park is absolutely beautiful... Basically right in the middle of a very nice town but feels like you're in the middle of nowhere... i'd recommend it for anyone looking to camp in this area.

Headed out of here Friday morning headed for Mohican State Park in Ohio then on to Rifle River State Park in Michigan before arriving at Fuel Moto on the 6th for my appointment the next day. A certain business owner was nice enough to let me set up my camper on his property while I'm there getting my install... very cool!

I'll update as I go. I know I've lived vicariously through others when they've posted their Fuel Moto trips on here and hoping I can do the same for others. Open to questions if anyone has any...

Hi guys, sorry for my absence the last couple days but I was camping at Rifle River Recreation Area in Lupton/Rose City Michigan and had no cell service or internet. It's a beautiful State Park... something like 4500 acres and pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Once you enter the park and visit the rangers station the pavement ends and you drive several miles into the wilderness on gravel roads. Lots of wildlife and nicely manicured campsites.

Covered the distance from there to Little Chute Wisconsin today.... probably 7 hours but a very nice ride through the UP in Michigan. Crossed the Mackinac Bridge which was crazy. 5 miles long, 60+ mph winds and grates that let you see down to the water 200 feet below at its highest point. The weather gets so crazy there that a highway employee will actually drive your vehicle, including motorcycles across if your not comfortable. F that... hold my beer!

I checked the weather in Little Chute a day prior and it was calling for high winds, rain and lightning. Jamie had previously given me permission to set up my motorcycle camper at Fuel Moto but given the weather forecast I decided to book the Country Inn & Suites, less than a half mile from Fuel Moto. FM has a deal there for customers and I paid $80/ night for what is without a doubt the nicest chain hotel (excluding intentionally "Fu Fu" hotels) that I've ever stayed at.

Huge room.... separate sitting area with TV, small kitchen, nice bathroom and King size bedroom with its own TV. I've stayed in way worse for much more.

Anyway, drove up through northern Michigan, across the UP and down the west side of the lake in Wisconsin. It was a glorious, sunny day and I was pissed at the weather Channel for leading me to believe I'd need to rent a hotel. Stopped 40 miles short of Little Chute/Appleton to call my family and tell them how beautiful the weather was. Got back on the bike and headed out on 41 towards my destination. As soon as I hit Green Bay the sky turned black and made my New York visit look like a light sprinkle! We're talking rain, thunder and lightning like Thor's Hammer!

I bailed off the first Green Bay exit, did my best to get to the right of the off ramp (apparently didn't do a very good job judging by the horns) and dawned my rain gear. Made it to the hotel 20 minutes later and glad I booked it.

Anyway, I called FM to let them know I wouldn't be camping but would see them bright and early in the AM. I spoke with Bob who said if I wanted to drop off the bike tonight he'd give me a ride back to the hotel. I had a few scotch/sodas before calling so I thanked him and said I'd see them in the morning.

I'll post an update as soon as I have one. Thanks to everyone for following along so far!

If you have time I'd recommend taking the free bus to the top of the gorge in Watkins Glen and doing the walk that follows the gorge back down. Eight wonder of the world.

I'd have never been able to afford this but once separated, I started working a metric s#it ton of overtime. She's a very cool chick and didn't go after my retirement, or anything for that matter. It really enabled me to do this. Hell, she still checks in from time to time to see how it's going.

The 114 with RS468 cam pulled that camper no problem but at maybe 36 MPG's...I was previously getting 46-48. I wonder if the extra power afforded by the 128 install will improve this?

The camper is about 385 empty but after installing the solar panel and adding the rest of my gear i bet it's about 525. The bike pulled it without issue but I had to downshift to 5th when climbing hills.... there are quite a few long gradual ones on I-90 and I-88.

I wouldn't be surprised to see that the big bore increases, or at least keeps the mileage the same as I can probably run 6th gear all the time.

Anyway, about my 4th one in...

Ok... maybe my 5th!

Good times brothers... keep em coming!
