I needed to change the motor and primary oil on the bike, went out got all my tools together, reach up under the bike and pull the plug, fluid is draining in the pan, grabbed me a beer and went into the house while its draining, come back out and I smell gear oil, yup I pulled the tranny plug instead of the crankcase plug, fess up fellas am I the only one that has done this?
Last fall... did the same damn thing. Only I didn't notice right away, and went dumber.... I put the plug back in, changed the filter, and started pouring oil in. It wouldn't hold 3 quarts????
Thats when I realized what I had done and started over... I change all three at the same time anyways, so end result was I just wasted some oil.
Beat myself up badly over it.... Since then I pull the derby cover & loosen the dipsticks, then pull all the plugs, let it all drain good while I change out the oil filter (I use a 18"x36" shallow drain pan, fits front of the motor to rear)... then go back together with it.
