So Ive been reading about the revolution max engine. I see that it redlines at 9500. It also produces 150 hp and 94 of torque at 1250cc. Could this engine efficiency be used in the touring models as well? I guess Im asking is whats stopping them from putting it in. That is way more power than my 103.
Touring bikes need to have engines tune for low-end torque to get them moving. I have ridden a V-Rod, which is fast as hell but no low end torque. Don't think they would work well in a Touring bike
I hope that eventually they can get those type numbers into the touring models. I dont claim to know engines and have to ask this forum a million questions when I wrench on my street glide. I do know that I am a huge fan of power(even if I dont understand completely,my right hand and butt know enough). I think that is area that they could set themselves apart from other manufacturers. I dont understand engineering but I would love though for Harley to be the baddest on the block.meanest engines, best paint, best style, best brakes and suspension.
I perfer to keep Harleys Harley and Hondas Honda. I'll take a Harley V Twin any day of the week.
I guess Im confused. Why wouldnt it be a Harley? Why would it be a Honda? Not trying to start a war, Ive heard that a lot. I guess what is the cutoff to be a Harley vs a honda. Ive had both and no which one I prefer. Ive also heard if I had to explain it you wouldnt understand.

Don't get me wrong and I don't want to come off the wrong way but being a "Harley purist" I enjoy their very unique product. However I cringe when some want to change the very unique product and make it like other motorcycles. It's bad enough the EPA is beating things up so having people who's market should be Honda's want to change a very unique American motorcycle makes me cringe.
The touring V Twin has more than enough power to get the job done and like others who have a need for high performance speed there are plenty of other bikes out there.
Sorry if I took your OP wrong.
Your ability to buy a new big air cooled V twin is dwindling daily and even faster if the green politicians get their way. Temp stable water cooled is the future till full battery power rules.
Like it or not it's coming. The rev max engine will power future touring models. Hopefully you'll have many more years of availability before EPA and Euro rules put a stake in the air cooled V twins heart. Till then enjoy whats available, keep your V twin till they are outlawed or taxed into museums and then accept what's allowed or take up golf.
