Just inherited this beautiful bike , has some hose leaks, no big deal. I can’t figure out exactly what bike this is I thought a FXWG but when I ordered a oil filter is was the wrong one. I found the right one at autozone and it fits. But still gonna fix the gas lines. Thanks if any of the older guys can help. I have title it says 1985 Harley Davidson. That’s it

Try taking some pictures and attaching them to a new post. The MOV opened, but all I got was 13 sec. of background sound and no images.

1985 is an Evo. Make sure the oil filter is correct (not a Twin Cam one). Just because it fits doesn't mean it's right.
  • TC motors use a 5 micron filter.
  • TC motors are a high pressure low volume oil system
  • TC paper oil filters that are more restrictive causing less oil gallons per min usually contain a bypass and a anti-drain back valve.
  • Evo motors only need 30 micron filtering
  • Evo motors are a low pressure high volume oil system
  • Evo paper oil filters don't have the anti-drain back valve.

Jump over to the Evo forum and repost. Bunch of great guys over there and they are pretty damn schmart.

It is a FXR, which version, I'm not sure. Rear fender may have been changed.

Base model is FXR, with the EVO motor and does take a different oil filter.

Like someone else said get the VIN number take it to Harley they should be able to bring it up and tell you exactly what you have.
