OK, sorry to be a wise guy or open a serious can of worms. I've been riding a long, long time now, and I've NEVER left my gas cap on the pump and ridden away. HTF do people do this? Is it even real? Is it a long term joke on the forum that I'm just too dense to understand? If someone tells me, would they then have to kill me?
I actually know a guy who lost a gas cap on his ultra.... wasted a good hour finding it., and YES we found it... he did put the cap on the bike, but he forgot to spin the cap
never did ride with him again... (gas cap was NOT his first deal)
My 95 Dyna has a cool little secret feature that none of the new bikes has. If you run out of gas you just reach down under the left side of the gas tank and twist a small lever 180 degrees and BAM! You get another 20 -30 miles or so of fuel.

Pretty cool huh?!?!
Nice. Did you ever make the mistake of leaving it on reserve when you next gassed up? Just about everyone I know has done that at least once. Or that's all that they'll admit to.

If you grew up riding the older stuff it's reflex shutting the petcock off, all kind of not so good things happen so it tends to be a harsh teacher of lessons you don't forget.
Oh let me see, got all kinda little one off and tricked out things I did to the shovel.
Made a trick dual coil bracket the mounts off the upper motor mount, stamped on it is " Size Does Matter "
On the rear I made a custom dual caliper brake setup running twin PM 4 piston calipers mounted on a custom bracket I designed. It's an eye catcher but the way it mounts the stabilizing arm tucks in along the swingarm. Just in front off the shock on that side is a little stainless retainer tab I made that you really need to get in close to see that has " Nosey F**k ain't yah " stamped on it.
Did another little trick setup for the airpump for the rear shock's , mounts just in back of the kicker cover down low on the frame, on the heat sheild I made is stamped " Blow Job ".
You can kinda see the rear brakes and the airpump in this pic.
Oh almost forgot the points cover is a one off handmade item, was a gift from some boys I knew in Colorado.
last if you look at the front of the tanks you will see a shutoff valve where the cross over tube should be.
There's more but these you can see.
Entertaining when peeps are looking the bike over and stumble across these.

possibly the loudest shovel I've ever seen... no, this one doesn't have a chrome frame
JK, nice bike and you've obviously put a lot of love into it
I have XL1200 2019 with keyless fob, and some questions about it:1. How to disable the alarm, so it will not drain battery sitting parked? Should I put it in Transport mode only?
2. How to stop engine, without putting the whole bike off? It was possible on 2003 Aprilia with usual keyed ignition.
