Default Inspect your engine mounts-fyi

On my 06 ultra, on a recent 650 mile day ride I noticed a chance in the sound of my engine in the hot part of the day. Almost like a tick but not really. Hard to explain. I pulled over multiple times trying to figure it out. Checked oil level, heat shield clamps, exhaust nuts, primary chain adjuster, pulled pushrod covers & checked adjustment. The only thing I noticed was the engine seemed to shake more than normal. I looked at that front mount. Visually it looked all there, and tight but the engine was moving on the mount. So I ordered a new mount when I got home. That was my noise for sure. I opted for the less expensive drag specialities mount. My engine moves way less and everything is much quieter. The only thing I dont like is I have some new vibration in my bars from 1200-1500 accelerating. I may order the “glide pro” mount if it doesnt calm down.

Very common on touring bikes 06 and prior. The donut-shaped isolator part of the mount has a tendency to shear like a sliced bagel. Supposedly the updated part from the moco is better, and of course there's 3rd party...

I always thought that was why the Moco put it the rubber mount right under the oil filter.
Keeps it moist and supple when you drip used oil on it.

lol. I made a make shift shield to slide in under the filter to help keep that area clean dry when changing oil. I doesnt catch it all but helps.

I only posted this about the mount because I had no idea that I had an issue but after driving bike with the new mount, it handles so much better. I guess the slightest movement is amplified throughout the bike.

I have the official Moco oil catcher for my Evo. I use it on my Shovel.
Still on my original mount on my '93 Evo. Seems fine at over 100,000 miles, probably because it gets oiled regularly.
Never had that problem on my Shovel...solid-mounted. Replaced the top mount once (cracked). Balanced the crank when I went into the bottom end. Smooth as my Evo now.

Glide Pro has (had?) alignment videos online some years ago. My 03 was low RPM vibe free for about 6 months then the vibes started, never could get it completely resolved. Any form of intake manifold leak will cause the shudder between idle and 2000 RPM, plus the mounts, the swing arm shaft mounts, alignment links. Good luck! Hope a proper alignment will fix it. My 91 was so sensitive that a minor 1/4 turn on the upper alignment link would throw it into vibe zone.
