If the foam is rubbing on something it sounds like you don’t have them in properly. They should be all the way in the ear canal, not hanging out of your ear at all. Is this the case?

I literally cannot get them all the way in, so yes it probably is. I have tried before, and if I cram it in there, it's touching my eardrum. That drives me nuts.

Worth noting that some people (like me) have weird or skinny ear canals. My ENT guy has told me this different times and I have extreme issues keeping compressible foam plugs in my ears. The very soft silicone (or similar material) plugs work best for me. The foam ones wedge their way out of my ears most of the time.

Snip the small rounded end off a little and they won’t go in so deep. They should still seal and protect as needed. I do this for my left ear while mowing. My right one doesn’t seem to be as uncomfortable and does not need modifying.

I will try that next time I use em. I still use them when killing ground squirrels with my 22WMR. Its a bit harsh without some protection.

Sorry. I just skipped to the last page. I have two pair of custom made ear plugs that was made from a mold just for my ears from my work place before I retired. They work great. I would recommend that you have some made just for your ears. Surely it does not cost much.

That's great. For you. The poor bastards riding beside or behind you are deaf as door nail. You are emitting the sound behind you for your fellow riders to absorb. Ask me why I know. 62 years and you ain't figured that out. Or. Maybe you never ride with others?https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...ind-noise.html

I use Alpine MusicSafe and MotoSafe earplugs.

MotoSafe ones are good for windnoise but still hearing exhaust, MusicSafe ones have more sound dampening, but less focus on wind noise.
The huuuge downside to the MotoSafe ones is that they require a special little tool to put them into your ears, and if you put them with the tail at the wrong angle, good luck getting the damn thing out of your ear.
